Yuan just laughs softly and shoos him away - he feels a little guilty when he realises his father has noticed, but he catches the hint of a smile and relaxes again, knowing that the older man doesn't truly disapprove.
With Jingyi gone, he needs something else to distract him from just staring longingly at Jin Ling, so he tunes in to the conversation happening close by - it's not so much that he wishes to eavesdrop as he just needs something else to focus on.
Wuxian glances over his shoulder and chuckles, his gaze meeting Sizhui's before he turns back and giving his son a questioning look. Yuan gives him a soft smile and a nod and he turns the rest of the way to grin at his brother.
"Why not both? All my little bunnies here can show off their own abilities and I can show off mine." He's mostly just teasing, because despite his words he's actually decided not to enter the majority of the events, and in fact is going to let the disciples he's helped train be the ones to display their skills.
